The average person has little more than a hairs-on-the-back-of-their-neck awareness that there are certain spots in the world where they shouldn't trespass.

Whether their bloodline traces back to something inhuman, or whether they had a brush with something otherworldly, or whether they simply grew up in one of those trespassless places, they are used to living with the knowledge of worlds beyond our own.

And unsurprisingly, they tend not to have stable jobs or living conditions.
