Leadbellies Rust On The Vine
A downloadable game
Even war-scarred, Burgania is beautiful. She wears her colors in blue and gold---in wheat and sky. On festival days, the survivors of the Sunwar roll out crimson pennants and white streamers. And in the deepest dells and forest glens, there exists a shade of green that would make any dyer’s guild weep with avarice.
And, of course, there are the gods.
Local spirits bound up in folktale and ritual, the gods are as much a fact of Burganian life as humans or tranktors. Most are contained and kept docile, plied with shrines and celebrations and gifts from the harvest. Should their relationship with the people of Burgania sour, they can become quite destructive, visiting storms and crop failure and bad dreams on their neglectful communities. And should their relationship be severed entirely, they become wanderers, gods without a home, as hungry and tired and vulnerable to mischance as any mortal.
The Sunwar destroyed a lot of shrines and emptied a lot of communities of people, and there are now more stray gods on the byways and in the pastures than there have been at any time since Burgania’s founding.
