The Hirutani estate has been many things over the course of its lifetime:

• The home of an ancient clan

• A ward for victims of a respiratory illness

• The headquarters of a pre-modern cult

• The hospital of a medical researcher

During that last period, over a decade ago, the players were patients of the researcher Dr. Amakawa. They do not remember this.

As the players explore and confront the estate’s history, they learn more about themselves. And in doing so, their identities writhe and change, until the estate’s purpose is complete.
