Me: I need to start writing games I can make money off of.

Also Me: Writes Fivewild.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fivewild is a 152 page tabletop roleplaying game written in one week that started as an attempt to fix a certain other popular system and then immediately barged off the rails and became its own thing.

Its five pillars are:

1 The Gig Economy

2 Balance Issues

3 Objectifying Lumberjacks

4 Gray Morality

5 Making A Little Guy

It does not declare compatibility with any other roleplaying system, but I understand that this may not stop you.

You can make material based off of it as long as you aren't a gigantic corporation and/or needlessly evil.

Edition Changes:

  • 12/19/23 - 2nd Ed - Added playtesting and feedback to credits. Fixed text overflow issue on page 9. Addressed one issue of incorrect term capitalization on page 41. Second edition babeeeey!
  • 1/2/24 - 3rd Ed - Changed two instances of "Death Tick" to Doom Tick. Adjusted Priorities so that monsters don't have to roll. We're in the 1990s now!

I sincerely really appreciate that this game has the same approach to balance as Exalted: i.e. a giant void in the text layout in the shape of a middle finger.

I must protest. This game is nothing like Exalted. Fivewild's initiative system is simple and easy to use.

(I was indeed thinking about Solars when I wrote the mechanics for Burial In Light.)

Richard, the next time I see you in person I'm going to take five dollars and fifty-five cents out of your wallet.

This is the most reasonable response to encountering Fivewild so far.

This is so inspiring! I love the world you have created!

Thanks! The worldbuilding in this one is kind of in the margins, but I'm glad it resonated!

Jokes on you, loser, I laughed so hard reading it that I came back and paid you anyways.

I'm not at all into OSR but this rivals TROIKA for fun-to-read to me.

TROIKA's a blast to read, and I'm thrilled to have (somehow?!) rivaled it with this monstrosity.

Thank you for the kind words!
