On January 2nd, 2006, 1:02 PM GMT all places on earth suffered from an event known as the Collapse Of Novelty. It had no immediately observable effect, but over the next couple weeks it would restructure all of human society.
As best as scientists could determine, the Collapse’s definition of an object was “a non-food item, or a food item intended for a non-food purpose, that was intentionally created by a human.”
The Collapse prevented new objects from being made.
Permanently. Globally.

Why does this feel eerily real?
I originally had it as a dream, so it's probably got that liminal vibe.
