While the modern world may be colder and more dangerous than the era of the Oheys, several basic things are still true:

Squirrels desire the company of other squirrels.

Squirrels desire safety.

Squirrels desire nests.

To this end, some groups of squirrels have taken to building small, armed compounds in the sheltered crannies of the wasteland.

Many are desperate affairs, continually short on water and nuts.

Many vanish within the first year, emptied out by a single Owl Hunter or Beroar.

But a few persist.

And it's one of these that the SPs call home.
